Temporary Facility Coming for Stoney Point Library

At the meeting on May 20, 2025, Lakeshore Council approved the rental of a temporary facility to house the Stoney Point library branch. The rental of the mobile unit comes after air quality issues at the previous facility forced the branch to close earlier this year.
With construction coming up at Stoney Point Community Park the new facility is planned to be relocated to the parking lot of the former Stoney Point Tavern, which was purchased by Lakeshore in 2023.

Lakeshore Unveils Two New EV Charging Stations

On Earth Day, April 22, 2025, Lakeshore Council celebrated the unveiling of two new Electronic Vehicle charging stations, a project made possible through Aviva Canada’s Charged for Change initiative.
Members of Council and staff came together for an unveiling event and inaugural “plugging in” ceremony at Lakeview Park, home to one of the stations. The other charging station is located in the parking lot of the Atlas Tube Recreation Centre. Each station can charge two vehicles at a time.

Yesterday, the Government of Ontario announced its plan to expand Strong Mayor powers to 169 municipalities throughout the province, including the Municipality of Lakeshore, effective May 1, 2025.
