Lakeshore’s Draft 2023 Budget to be Presented to Council

The Municipality of Lakeshore’s draft 2023 Budget will be presented to Council at the upcoming meeting on Tuesday, January 10, with deliberations scheduled for January 30 and 31.
The draft Budget proposes a 4.74 percent tax rate increase, along with increases to water and wastewater rates. The proposed rates would mean a total average monthly increase of $13.41 (page 5) for property owners.

Online Building Permit Applications Coming in 2023

Cloudpermit platform to be used starting January 3
Starting on January 3, 2023, all of Lakeshore’s building permit applications will be made using the online Cloudpermit platform.

Lakeshore Ends Significant Weather Event Declaration

The Municipality of Lakeshore has ended its Significant Weather Event declaration.
On December 23, sustained high winds and drifting snow conditions contributed to the deterioration of local road conditions, which prompted the declaration.

High winds and snow drifting contribute to deteriorating road conditions
The Municipality of Lakeshore has declared a Significant Weather Event. Residents are advised to avoid all non-essential travel.
Sustained high winds have contributed to the drifting of snow and the ongoing deterioration of local road conditions. High winds are forecasted to continue throughout the night.
The declaration of a Significant Weather Event is defined in Ontario Regulation 239/02.

Mix of wind, snow, and icy temps impacting holiday travel
UPDATE (December 23, 2022, 2:00 PM): Sustained high winds continue to reduce visibility on local roadways.
Residents are asked to consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve.
Visibility will be suddenly reduced to near zero at times in heavy snow and blowing snow. If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop.
