What is this project about?
Parkland Dedication By-laws, as required under the Planning Act, allow municipalities to charge developers monetary fees as part of development agreements. These fees are used by municipalities to ensure their park systems grow in tandem with their community, providing essential parkland for their residents.
Lakeshore’s previous Parkland Dedication By-law, adopted in 2022, provided for a payment-in-lieu rate of $600 (per rural residential lot) and $1200 (per urban residential lot).
The Government of Ontario's Bill 23 has changed how municipalities administer Parkland Dedication By-laws.
Watson & Associates Economists Ltd. was engaged to assist with the review and preparation of a new Parkland Dedication By-law. As part of their work, Watson developed a draft by-law (page D-1), which is being presented to stakeholders and members of the public for comments and feedback.
How can I participate?
Watson & Associates will be receiving comments and feedback until Monday, April 15, 2024 via email to ECPConsultation@watsonecon.ca. Residents and stakeholders are also welcome to participate in an Open House, offered both in-person and online via Zoom, which will include a brief presentation about the changes, as well as time for questions, comments, and feedback on the proposed by-law.
- Thursday April 4, 2024, 5:00 PM
