The Municipality of Lakeshore continues to be a top destination for new residents and homes according to the 2021 Census, which showed a 10.4 percent increase in total population compared to 2016. In the same period, the Municipality added over 1,000 new homes.
We are 30 minutes from the USA border and Highway 401 travels right through Lakeshore going into Windsor and North America's busiest border crossing. Our north shore boasts a 250 slip marina, lakefront park and the largest beach on Lake St. Clair. The majority of urban area is concentrated around Country Road 22, providing a direct link to Tecumseh (population 25,000) and Windsor (population 200,000+) We offer low taxes and a high quality of life.
As for major industry and employers, we have a heavy concentration of auto related supply plants and tool and mold shops, as well as a labour force for similar industry in Windsor and region. Commercial property is concentrated along County Rd 22. Lakeshore also offers an 8 screen cinema as well as high definition virtual indoor golf complex, state of the art 36 hole miniature golf with animatronics and waterfalls, beach volleyball courts with outdoor pool tables, ping pong tables and horseshoe pits.
The Municipality recently completed all new state of the art water and sanitary plants, a new water tower, renovated the main street of our Belle River community, renovated our marina and waterfront park, doubled the beachfront and constructed the Atlas Tube Recreation Centre (our multi-use recreation facility). Furthermore, the County of Essex continues to improve and expand County Road 22 from Tecumseh to Belle River, the main 4-lane arterial highway in the region.
