The Municipality of Lakeshore wants to remind residents that dogs are to remain on leash at all times in Lakeshore parks, unless while in an off-leash dog park in accordance with By-law 27-2022.
“It is important to remember that leash laws are in place to protect everyone. Leashing your dog helps prevent accidents, reduces the risk of wildlife encounters, and ensures a more enjoyable experience for all park-goers,” said Rob Sassine, Lakeshore’s Division Leader – By-law.
Over the coming weeks, Lakeshore’s By-law Compliance team will routinely visit local parks to educate and remind dog owners about the by-law and, when necessary, enforce it with associated penalties.
Park visitors, with their canine companions, are also reminded to always clean up after their pets.
Residents are encouraged to visit Lakeshore.ca/Bylaws for detailed information. Complaints about unleashed dogs can be reported to the By-law Compliance Team by phone at 519-728-2700.
