The following is a summary of issues and matters that Council dealt with at the meeting held on January 9, 2024. A video recording of the meeting will also be posted at Lakeshore.ca/TV.

Council:

Received a presentation regarding a request to reinstate a Heritage Committee and directed Administration to bring back a report and terms of reference to establish a Heritage Committee.

Received a notice of motion by Councillor Santarossa and directed Administration to bring forward a recommended solution to develop an interim pedestrian crossing at Optimist Park, on Notre Dame Street in advance of the County Road 22 Corridor Re-Construction.

Supported a resolution by the Township of Asphodel-Norwood regarding rising municipal insurance costs.

Supported a resolution by Clearview Township regarding cemetery transfer/abandonment.

Supported a resolution by the Town of Tecumseh regarding increasing tax credits for volunteer firefighters.

Received a petition regarding a parkette in Comber and directed Administration to add the proposal to the Hydro One fund report for consideration.
Received the following Reports for Information: 2023 Council and Closed Meeting Annual Report

Approved By-law 3-2024, an amendment to the User Fee By-law (95-2023) to replace Schedule F (Operations fees).
Awarded the following contracts and tenders:

Tender for the 2023 Lakeshore Road 111 Widening and Gravel Conversion to Shepley Road Maintenance Ltd. in the amount of $990,212.83.

Contract for three-year Janitorial Services Contract to Krautner Janitorial Inc. in the amount of $449,964.28 and approved an annual increase to the facilities operating budget for Janitorial Services.

Tender for three-year Solid Waste Collection Contract to Green for Life Environmental Inc.in the amount of $2,891,726.04 and approved the elimination of the Extra Pick up in Area 3.

Approved By-law 5-2024, being a By-law to authorize an amendment to the Master Waterline Agreement with the Public Utilities Commission for the Municipality of Chatham-Kent, to allow for the construction of a new watermain on the west side of Wheatley Road.
Approved the following by-laws:

By-law 1-2024to authorize temporary borrowing for 2024.

By-law 2-2024 to authorize borrowing for drainage works.
