Lakeshore Seeking Nominations for Outstanding Local Artists

Mayor’s Art Award nominations open until December 31

The Municipality of Lakeshore is excited to announce the opening of nominations for the return of the Mayor's Art Awards. These awards celebrate and recognize outstanding artistic talent and honour those who have contributed to the arts in Lakeshore.

“Art infuses our communities with color and creativity while connecting us through a shared appreciation of artistic expression,” said Lakeshore Mayor Tracey Bailey. “These awards are an opportunity to recognize the incredible individuals and organizations who help make and bring art to the people of Lakeshore.”

Nominations are now open for the following categories:

• Student Artist Award for outstanding promise and commitment to the arts, in any artistic discipline to a student, under the age of 21.
• Emerging Artist Award for an emerging artist with two to seven years of professional experience, in any artistic discipline.
• Patron of the Arts Leadership Award for a volunteer, educator, supporter, or business that volunteers or supports the arts in Lakeshore.
• Creative Entrepreneur Award for a business, organization, or individual with a demonstrated impact on Lakeshore’s arts community.
• Artistic Excellence Award for an artist who has demonstrated artistic excellence in their field through a body of work, public performance, exhibitions, and/or publications.

Each award, except the Patron of the Arts Leadership Award, comes with a $1,000 cash prize. To be eligible, individuals or organizations must live, work, or attend school in Lakeshore. Full nomination requirements are available for review online at Lakeshore.ca/ArtAwards.

Nominations from individuals and self-nominations will be accepted until December 31, 2023.

A panel of judges will recommend a slate of winners for endorsement by the Mayor, with a celebratory reception to be hosted at the Atlas Tube Recreation Centre in the Spring of 2024.
