Today, WindsorEssex Community Foundation (WECF), the Municipality of Lakeshore, and members of the community gathered to celebrate the unveiling of a new waterfront legacy project made possible through an investment from the WindsorEssex Community Foundation in celebration of their 40 Years of Inspiring Philanthropy.
The new Lakeshore Waterfront Sculpture Project is an inspiring new waterfront attraction for tourists and residents to enjoy. The sailboat statue provides an opportunity for visitors to capture their experiences and the landmark scenery offered by Lakeshore’s beautiful waterfront and serves as a new gateway to popular Lakeview Park and Belle River Marina.
The Lakeshore Waterfront Sculpture legacy project was made possible through an initial investment from the WindsorEssex Community Foundation, with the generous support of the Municipality of Lakeshore to help bring this fantastic community legacy project to fruition, contributing greatly to this landmark attraction that will be enjoyed by residents and visitors to the Municipality of Lakeshore for generations.
"I am absolutely thrilled to join the WindsorEssex Community Foundation in celebrating 40 years of inspiring philanthropy! Together, we're creating a lasting legacy with this Lakeshore Waterfront Sailboat Sculpture celebrating our history and those who come to experience it. WindsorEssex Community Foundation’s support fuels these transformative projects, making them a vital partner in shaping our shared future. We look forward to making a difference and touching countless lives together!" Mayor Tracy Bailey – Municipality of Lakeshore.
The investment is one of several 40th Anniversary Community Legacy Projects being supported by the WECF as they celebrate 40 years of Community Supporting Community in 2023. The WECF has been marking this milestone year throughout Windsor and Essex County by creating lasting legacies, working with local municipal and community partners to create projects that will invest in lasting change in Windsor and Essex County, value a sense of place and culture, and honour both local history and the future as it unfolds.
“Over the last year, we have been investing in community to create projects that will invest in lasting change, reflect who we are as the people of Windsor and Essex County, value our sense of place and culture, and honour both our local history and our future as it unfolds,” says Lisa Kolody, Executive Director of the WindsorEssex Community Foundation. “We are privileged to be celebrating our 40th Anniversary with phenomenal community partners like the Municipality of Lakeshore who are helping us mark our milestone year by creating projects that help foster a sense of community throughout Windsor & Essex County, today and forever.” Lisa Kolody, Executive Director – WindsorEssex Community Foundation.
