County Road 22 is a vital transportation corridor that connects the Municipality’s main urban areas, including Belle River, Emeryville, Puce, and Maidstone. Major commercial and employment areas are located along this corridor.
A diverse range of uses have historically existed and evolved over time on County Road 22. Such uses include automotive dealers, industrial malls, commercial strip plazas, expansive parking areas and older residential dwellings on large lots. Lakeshore now has a strategy in place to improve the function and design of this key corridor.
Strategy
The Corridor Transformation Strategy transforms County Road 22 into a corridor that provides a diverse mix of commercial, employment, residential and community uses. Drivers, pedestrians and cyclists will be accomodated as part of the strategy.
The strategy's design guidelines and principles will ensure that future development within the corridor is in keeping with the Municipality’s vision with respect to land use, streetscape, parking, and other urban design matters. Municipal staff will use the guidelines to evaluate development proposals within the corridor.
