Taxi Owner / Driver / Brokers / Limousine Drivers
The Municipality has amended their Vehicle for Hire By-law 61-2020, September 22, 2020. Council has determine that it is appropriate and desirable to licence vehicles for hire, drivers, brokers and private transportation companies for the purposes of ensuring the health and safety of both passengers and drivers.
All applicants must read the Vehicle for Hire By-law 61-2020 and application details before submitting their applications.
Every applicant for a licence and renewal licence shall provide the following to the licence issuer:
Completed Application form(s)
- Vehicle for Hire - Drivers - Licence Application
- Vehicle for Hire - Owners - Licence Application
- Vehicle for Hire - Brokers - Licence Application
- Documentation showing proof of Canadian citizenship, Landed immigrant status, or a work permit to work as a Driver issued by the Government of Canada
- a valid Ontario Driver's Licence valid birth certificate or passport
- Ministry of Transportation Driver's Record (Abstract) dated no later than 30 days prior to application
- Police Clearance and Vulnerable Sector check dated no later than 60 days prior to the application
- Application fee in accordance with the User Fee By-law 11-2023 (page 18)
Vehicle for Hire, drivers, brokers and limousine licences are issued through the Legislative Services Department.
In accordance with the Integrated Accessibility Standard regulation:
- Taxi drivers and owners are not allowed to charge extra for transporting persons with disabilities.
- Vehicle registration plate must be placed on the rear bumper.
- Vehicle registration is available in an accessible format for passengers who are persons with disabilities.
