  • Summarize your work experience with Lakeshore in 3 words:
    Energetic, collaborative, productive
  • What did you enjoy the most about working with Lakeshore?
What I most enjoyed about working with Lakeshore was being taught skills I would have otherwise never learned. Being a part of a very efficient team with many different types of tasks made it so that there were always new things to be learned.
  • What did you learn from Lakeshore staff and your supervisor?
Among many things, what I learned most from my fellow coworkers and supervisors is how to work in groups to complete a project, how to time-manage my day to the best of my ability and to always take pride in the work I do, because we were always learning and improving.
  • What advice would you give to students who are considering applying for a summer job with the Municipality of Lakeshore in the future?
My advice to students considering applying for a summer job within the Municipality of Lakeshore is to enter your job with a positive attitude and you will quickly learn how happy everyone is to have you. You will have a very memorable and enjoyable summer season with Lakeshore.

  • Summarize your work experience with Lakeshore in 3 words:
    Rewarding, collaborative, and exciting
  • What did you enjoy the most about working with Lakeshore?
It's challenging to pick one thing, but I would say the work environment is what I enjoyed the most. Ever since my first tour through town hall, it felt like I was a part of the team.
With an internal culture that is built around supporting and educating others, friendliness, and professionalism, it's safe to say that my first few weeks were so much easier than I ever expected!
  • What did you learn from Lakeshore staff and your supervisor?
The amount I learned within the short time I worked at Lakeshore is truly astonishing. Filled with learning opportunities of hard and soft skills, I learned so much about municipal politics, effective writing for media releases, graphic design, time management, photography, the importance of making connections and so much more. But most importantly, I learned how to have confidence in myself with both my work and making connections, and that is something that will have an impact on not only my career but my personal life.
  • What advice would you give to students who are considering applying for a summer job with the Municipality of Lakeshore in the future?
The best piece of advice I could give any student for this summer job is to talk to as many people as possible. Everyone in the workplace has their own story and loads of knowledge to share. Specifically for my position that specializes in communication, it's important to make connections and have a full understanding of how all of the departments work in order to communicate and craft messages effectively. So don't be afraid! Ask as many questions as you can, let your skills and passion shine, and without a doubt, you'll find success not only in your career but success in yourself!

    Versatile, unique, and explorative.
  • What did you enjoy the most about working with Lakeshore?
The opportunity to learn more about my field of study in a hands on way. I was offered a recruitment job at a different organization for when I had completed my term with Lakeshore, and my learning and work for the summer term was focused on recruitment. I feel this has greatly prepared me for the next steps of my career.
  • What did you learn from Lakeshore staff and your supervisor(s)?
The importance of building connections and relationships with people outside of your department, especially when in a human resources role.
  • What advice would you give to students who are considering applying for a summer job with the Municipality of Lakeshore in the future?
Be ready to dive into anything thrown at you, enjoy the learning opportunities, and find the joy in what you're doing.
